Project Name: Customized Flow Measurement System for Additive Production Line of Precision Chemical Raw Materials


I. Customer Background and Core Requirements


Customer: A high-end fine chemical enterprise. 

Process steps: Among multiple production lines, precise and continuous online measurement and batching of various high-value, low-mass-added chemical raw materials (such as catalysts, additives, pigments, etc.) are carried out. 

Challenges: 

Very small diameter: The pipe diameters are mainly DN3, DN6, and DN10. Traditional mechanical flow meters cannot meet the requirements for accuracy and corrosion resistance.
Complex medium: The medium is corrosive, prone to crystallization, or requires sanitary grade (some food-grade additives).
High precision requirements: The measurement accuracy directly affects the quality and cost of the final product. A measurement accuracy of ±0.5% or even higher is required.
Signal and integration requirements: 4-20mA analog output and RS485 digital communication (supporting Modbus protocol) are needed to seamlessly integrate into the existing DCS/PLC control system, enabling automatic blending.
Batch purchase: Upgrade multiple production lines at once, with a quantity of 100 units. The requirements are for consistent performance, stable supply, and potential cost optimization.


II. Customized Solution

1. Sensor size and material    Usually starting from DN15     DN3, DN6, DN10 ultra-small diameter, the electrode and liner materials are customized in batches according to the medium list:
- Strongly corrosive medium: Tantalum electrode + PTFE liner
- Hygienic medium: Polished 316L electrode + PFA liner, clamp connection    Adapt to micro-flow measurement, ensure corrosion resistance and hygiene requirements, extend lifespan.
2. Measurement accuracy and range ratio    Typical ±0.5%, range ratio 10:1    Accuracy improved to ±0.3% of rate, range ratio expanded to 20:1. For each diameter and medium, individual calibration and setting of range.    Meet the precise measurement requirements for high-value media, broaden the available flow range of a single instrument, reduce instrument models.
3. Signal output and power supply    Usually single output    Standard configuration: 4-20mA + pulse/frequency + RS485 (Modbus RTU).
Power supply: 24VDC and 220VAC selectable, configured in groups according to the situation of the on-site control cabinet.    Realize flexible analog and digital signal access, meet dual requirements of automatic control and data acquisition.

III. Project execution process


Technical confirmation: Both parties sign a detailed technical agreement as the acceptance standard. 

Production and Batch Delivery: Due to different material requirements, the production will be carried out in 3 batches. The first piece of each batch will undergo FAI (First Article Inspection), and after confirmation by the customer, mass production will commence. 

Joint testing before shipment: The customer sends personnel or conducts the test via video to measure the water flow of randomly selected instruments, verifying the core functions. 

Training and Guidance: Provide a detailed installation instruction manual (emphasizing the requirements for the front and rear straight pipe sections and grounding requirements), and hold an online training session. 

On-site support: Provide remote support for initial installation and commissioning, and offer on-site engineer services for complex working conditions (included in the contract).
