Integrated vortex flowmeter

December 03, 2025
The temperature and pressure compensation integrated vortex flowmeter is mainly used for the flow measurement of various media such as gases, liquids, and vapors in industrial pipelines. Its features include low pressure loss, wide measurement range, high accuracy, and almost no influence from parameters such as fluid density, pressure, temperature, and viscosity when measuring the volumetric flow rate under the working conditions. It has no moving mechanical parts, so it has high reliability and low maintenance requirements. The instrument parameters can be stable for a long time. This instrument adopts a piezoelectric stress sensor, which has high reliability and can work within a working temperature range of -20℃ to +250℃. It has both analog standard signals and digital pulse signals output, making it easy to be used in conjunction with digital systems such as computers. It is a relatively advanced and ideal flowmeter.
From the above formula, it can be seen that the pulse frequency signal output by the VSF is not affected by changes in fluid properties and components, that is, the instrument coefficient is only related to the vortex generator and the shape and size of the pipeline within a certain Reynolds number range. However, as a flowmeter in material balance and energy measurement, it needs to detect the mass flow rate. At this time, the output signal of the flowmeter should simultaneously monitor the volumetric flow rate and fluid density. The fluid properties and components still have a direct impact on flow measurement.
The vortex flowmeter is a new type of flowmeter that measures the flow of fluid in closed pipelines based on the Karman vortex principle. Due to its good adaptability to media, it can directly measure the working volumetric flow rate of steam, air, gas, water, and liquids without temperature and pressure compensation. It can also measure the standard volumetric flow rate and mass flow rate with temperature and pressure sensors. It is an ideal substitute for orifice flowmeters.
In practical applications, the maximum flow rate is often much lower than the upper limit of the instrument, and with changes in load, the minimum flow rate often falls below the lower limit of the instrument. The instrument does not work in its optimal working range. To solve this problem, a reduction in the diameter at the measurement point is often adopted to increase the flow velocity at the measurement point, and a smaller diameter instrument is selected to facilitate measurement. However, this diameter reduction method must have a straight pipe section of at least 15D between the reducing section and the instrument for rectification, making processing and installation inconvenient. The LGZ reducing and rectifying device with an arc-shaped cross-section has multiple functions such as rectification, increasing flow velocity, and changing flow velocity distribution. Its structural size is small, only 1/3 of the inner diameter of the process pipe, and is integrated with the vortex flowmeter. It not only does not require an additional straight pipe section but also reduces the requirements for the straight pipe section of the process pipe, making installation very convenient.
