The principle of HQ-51L (HQ-8260L) pulse radar level gauge universal joint is that the radar level gauge antenna emits extremely narrow microwave pulses, which propagate in space at the speed of light. When they encounter the surface of the measured medium, some of their energy is reflected back and received by the same antenna. The time interval between transmitting and receiving pulses is proportional to the distance from the antenna to the surface of the measured medium, thus calculating the distance from the antenna to the surface of the measured medium. HQ-51L radar level gauges are suitable for non-contact, large range liquid/material level measurement installed on the top of containers.
